We will arrange for our guide to pick you up up at your hotel in Flagstaff (8:00am), Williams (8:30am) or Tusayan/South Rim area (9:30am) for a drive to the breathtaking South Rim inside the Grand Canyon National Park.

Shortly after you pass through the gates of the South Rim National Park you will be walking onto the pine-forested ledges of the first outdoor viewpoint. For many, this is a first view of Grand Canyon, so time is allowed just take it all in. Then there will be an introduction to the trees, shrubs, wildflowers, and wildlife of the Canyon. At this overlook, your guide will pick out many of the distant features of the canyon. Your guide will lead a brief session on Grand Canyon rocks and their ages, using real rock specimens. Here also, your guide will piece together the four eras of Grand Canyon history and the rocks that were left at the end of each chapter.

After lunch you will explore some of the Painted Desert. Here you will examine the petrified remains of ancient trees. You can climb  and explore low mounds carved by wind and water. In addition, at a roadside stand, a Navajo Native American will speak with us about the Navajo culture. Then, at a last scenic stop inside the Grand Canyon National Park, we take our last view of the magnificent Grand Canyon.
